People are TALKING……..
The SBS staff has always talked with our son about his strengths and together they build on those strengths, rather than focusing on the weaknesses or past failings. We knew we had found the right program for him when his counselor, Keith, told us that our son has “incredible potential—I cannot wait to see what comes of it.” We have always believed this, but we are not sure of any of his many previous counselors held that belief!

When my son was still living at home and had difficulty simply getting out of bed or getting to appointments, his SBS counselors gladly offered to come to our house to help him with these basic functional tasks. We have never come across such flexible, caring, and understanding counselors as those at Side-By-Side.

After having worked with Keith, my son’s SBS counselor, for nearly 3 years, I continue to be amazed at how “artfully” he handles potentially volatile issues with my son during counseling sessions! Even when my son arrives at a session with very strong emotions ready to break through, he inevitably leaves the session with more positive views about the situation and new ideas with which to build on. The SBS treatment approach is always creative and functional, which helps assure carry - over into a variety of life situations.

With Side by Side, we for the first time had the confidence and serenity to let go, draw back, and allow our son to wrestle with issues of independence and external controls, with supervision not by us, and also to allow him to experience the natural consequences of the world from which we had sheltered him.
